Pfantasy Pfriday

Okay, I'm going to just go ahead and pretend almost 4 months haven't passed since my last post and jump right into another Pfantasy Pfriday! Goo!

Actually, this one was inspired by a pfantasy... sorry, fantasy booking column they have over at 411 Mania called "Fink's Payload." People write in with their fantasy ideas (most of them are predictably terrible) and the writers comment on them. I've been having this idea cooking for a while, so when they asked for ideas about the Royal Rumble this year, I couldn't resist. Here's my email to the fellas over at Fink's Payload:

I have what I think is a pretty cool idea for the Rumble...

Things start to heat up at New Year's Revolution when D-X gets the win over RKO. As for the title match, the John Cena vs. Umaga fight gets WAY out of hand. These two fight all over the arena, causing mass chaos wherever they go. In the midst of the match, several referees get taken out, including one of the braver ones taking a nasty big spot fall off the entranceway platform.

The next night on RAW, Coach calls for a rematch at Royal Rumble - this time no holds barred. But there's one problem... no sanctioned WWE official wants to be assigned the match. When Coach tries to force them, they go on strike and picket outside the arena. Coach puts out a call to anyone tough enough to referee this brutal match. The next week, the call is answered... by Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Meanwhile, fresh off their win over Rated RKO, D-X are back to their shenanigan-loving selves and enter themselves in the Royal Rumble. Under Rated RKO's advice, Coach decides that the best way to mess with D-X is to divide and conquer. He sets a match at the Royal Rumble: Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H - the winner gets #30 in the Rumble while the loser gets #1.

At the Rumble, D-X starts off the match as a joke, playing rock-paper-scissors to decide who wins and then having Michaels lay down for Triple H. Coach restarts the match, saying that unless they fight for real, neither of them is in the Rumble. Realizing what's at stake, D-X has a heckuva match, ending with Michaels pinning HHH with a superkick, earning him #30. As he checks on his fallen partner, Rated RKO hits the ring and absolutely decimates Michaels. They play up a neck injury/paralyzed angle and take Michaels out on a stretcher.

In the title match, Cena and Umaga go back and forth. Cena hits the FU and goes for the pin... only to be stunned by Austin! Austin counts the three and Umaga is the new WWE champion! What the hell has Austin done?

In the Rumble itself, Triple H is badly hurt, but makes it to near the end. In the final four, it's Edge, Orton, Mr. Kennedy and HHH. When #30 appears on the big screen, they all look toward the entrance way. No one's coming. Triple H is on his own.

He does his best to fight off three men, but they are too much and eliminate him. As Kennedy fights off Rated RKO, Triple H manages to grab his other partner - the sledgehammer - and get back into the ring to take out Rated RKO, eliminating them both and running them through the crowd.

Beaten up, Mr. Kennedy comes to and looks around. He's alone in the ring. He asks for his microphone. "And the winner of the 2007 Royal Rumble... MISTEEEEEEEEER..."

Suddenly, the #30 appears on the screen again. The crowd counts down. 3... 2... 1...

"I am a real American..." It's Hulk Hogan!

Hogan hits the ring and dispatches Mr. Kennedy. Hulk Hogan is going to WrestleMania to fight for the WWE title!

So we've set up for WrestleMania 23:

John Cena vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
Umaga vs. Hulk Hogan for the WWE Title
Rated RKO vs. D-X (with Michaels returning for the first time since the Rumble) in Hell in a Cell.

I like it b/c a Cena-Austin war of words could be fun. Austin could claim that the people boo Cena because he cares about what they think. When he was a champion, he didn't give a damn what people thought. "I did it for your own damn good, Cena." Cena can counter that Austin is just trying to steal the spotlight to promote his movie career. Doesn't the Austin movie come out in April? Great way for Austin to pass the torch.

Hulk Hogan fighting for the world title at Wrestlemania 23 - 20 years after he fought Andre the Giant. I like it better than the proposed Hogan-Big Show contest because at this point, Umaga would still be undefeated, just like the Giant was. In order to make it work, I'd have Hogan say that he plans on retiring champion after this match. That way, people might believe he has a shot. (I'd have Kennedy interfere to save the title, but Hogan clean house of both of them and pose down, by the way. That way, Hogan won't lose too much face and will be able to return because he didn't want to end his career that way.)

So that's what I've got. I'm going to make a completely empty promise to post here more.
